Top 5 Spring Make-Up Picks With Jessica Kell

Top 5 Spring Make-Up Picks With Jessica Kell

I have been lucky enough to work with Jessica on a number of photo shoots and I am forever prying her for make up tips!  This week I have teamed up with Jess as she takes over the blog to share her top 5 make-up must-haves.

Spring Picks for Make Up With Jessica Kell

After such along and dark winter, i’m so ready to enjoy the summer sun again. At this time of year I always like to make a few swaps in my make-ip bag, go for a lighter foundation and anything that radiates a sunlit glow, so here are the make up products I am loving right now.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

shop here
With Summer around the corner and the sub-zero degrees mornings behind us (fingers crossed) the first change up I always make in my make up bag, is my foundation. I like to have a fresh and glowy complexion for Spring (don’t we all!) and my go to has to be the Lumious Silk Foundation. It is a medium to lightweight finish that blends easily and instantly brightens, a perfect base for pretty blushes and a smattering of freckles.

Wonderglow Primer Charlotte Tilbury

shop here

If you are anything like me, then you are desperate to get out into the sun to bring a bit of bronze back into your complexion- drenched under the protection of a factor 50+ SPF of course. But if you are not quite bronze ready yet, Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow Primer is a godsend. Used under foundation- or on its own- it matches your skin tone perfectly whilst adding a touch of bronze and shimmer. Just enough to bring some life and light to a dull winter complexion.

Caution Extreme Lash Mascara Hourglass

shop here
I love a feathered lash for spring, something about long doe eyed lashes that compliment freckles and blush perfectly. The Extreme Caution Mascara from Hourglass delivers longer and thicker lashes, but with a soft finish that always looks pretty and never too harsh.

Soap Brows by West Barn Co.

shop here
Have you ever wondered how make up artists manage to create those beautifully bushy brows on models? Well, for me at least, it’s with the help of Soap Brows from West Barm Co. a genius little tin of soap, which when dampened and applied to the brows gives them a little bit of omph and lift, holding them in place, then all you need to do is fill them in with a pencil and you have model perfect brows.

Lip Tint Kjaer Weis

shop here

I love a good multi task product, especially when the weather gets warmer and I want to do my make up in minutes before I’m out of the door. Kjaer Weis is an all round great brand that focuses on sustainable, refillable packaging and ethically sourced products, whilst delivering great formulas with a natural finish. I love my Lip Tint from them, encased in weighty magnetized packaging that feels as luxurious as it gets. I just dab a little on the lips and a little on the cheeks and I’m good to go.

Let me know if you try and love any of these, its great to know what you think!

Planning A Summer Getaway?

With summer in full swing and many of us leaving booking going away till the last minute (if at all!) It has made planning our summer wardrobe a little tricky!

When it comes to putting together your summer looks, anything goes, from vibrant coloured dresses (hey sunshine:) to 90’s style denim cut offs! Its great to be able to have these choices, but sometimes with so many options it can mean pulling the perfect look together; isn’t always easy.

If you are wondering how to stay seaside stylish or camping chic, I am here to help you strike the perfect balance between practical and pretty!

You will definitely find some inspo in this edit, no matter the activity and adventure (or lack of) planned this summer.

WARNING: You may want to buy all of it!

Feel the sunshine in this saffron maxi dress with matching tonal wrap around sandals and raffia bucket bag. Elevate the whole look by adding highlights of gold accessories, a few curls in your hair and a pair of chic sunglasses.

Planning a trip to the seaside needs to be practical, but this doesn’t mean you have to curb your style. Use a cool linen shirt dress and a bucket hat as the perfect sun cover up. Then cinch in at the waist with a raffia belt, adding a matching bag for your restaurant lunch. Pad around in the ultimate in comfort- Birkenstocks:)

Whether it be date night at home or a night out on the town, get your shoulder game on and wear this gorgeous puffed sleeve midi dress. Style with wrap around rope block heels, woven belt and raffia bucket bag, Finish the look off with Soru gold jewels for the ultimate in chic style.

It’s all about the 90’s this season, upgrade your cut-offs to these Bermuda shorts with a simple vest; then layer over the coolest cashmere for a super stylish evening round the camp fire. Keep your toes toasty in a trusty pair of converse:)

Which is your favourite look?

Raffias Superpower…

Raffias Superpower…

A member of the straw family Raffias superpower lies in the instant summer vibes it gives off when adorned on any accessory.

This humble plant-derived material is environmentally friendly and simply makes me smile:) There’s something about the texture, detailing and diversity that make it super easy to style, elevating any outfit.

Raffia is a timeless summer wardrobe staple and for me its synonymous with the season.  I will often ‘search” specifically for it when scrolling through online retailers on the hunt to add to my summer collection.  Here I am sharing with you a selection of my favourite pieces I have found my most recents “searches” …

Loungewear Lovin…

Loungewear Lovin…

SO how are you all doing?

It’s been on the top of the request list…Loungewear.

I can honestly say that my day-to-day wear is airing on the side of comfy. However, I will say that getting up and carrying on with some semblance of routine makes me feel happy. For me clothes help you do this; whether it be donning workout gear, or a hoodie and joggers it’s that act of actually getting dressed that makes me feel good.

Does your outfit need to be work-from-home ready or simply comfy casuals that cater for chasing the kids around? Either way there should be something in my seven day round up to suit you all.

01. Channel Your Inner Rainbow
It’s Springtime; and the sun is shining. I don’t know about you, but it definitely makes me want to add some colour into the mix. Colour is not my default when into comes to buying clothes, but I am trying to be a little more adventurous, as wearing colour makes me feel cheerful. I have recently purchased this peach hoodie and rainbow leggings and I can vouch that it’s a very happy combination to wear:)

02. The Ultimate Glamour Set:
Are you wanting to feel glamorous whilst lounging around? These Mchugh co-ords are the epitome of loungewear glamour. They are extremely versatile, with the jacket looking super stylish when worn with jeans for an alternative look. I have teamed up with Mchugh to offer you a 25% discount off these sets with the code: MORSTYLE.

03. Chic Loungwear Perfection:
Chanel your inner ‘London chic’ in Lucy Nagles X Fashion Bug Blog cashmere luxe loungewear sets. These are low effort, yet high style; team with some Golden Goose trainers and you are onto a winning combination!

04. Easy breezy Casual Comfies:
As a cheaper alternative opt for this HM hoodie and jogger combo that is simple, comfortable and yet stylish. Team with some crisp white trainers and you will be Supermarket ready:)

05. Relaxed Vibes Working From Home:
Are you needing to be Zoom call appropriate? My top choice would be laid back comfy combats and a nice piece of comfortable, yet refined cashmere. Add on some simple gold jewellery and you will be looking effortlessly stylish, yet ensuring you look well put together on screen. HM Cashmere is great value for money for the quality with some really lovely pieces on offer.

06.Laid Back Loungwear Lovin:
Friday night family quiz… look fresh this with this crisp, sleek Chinti and Parker set. I love the simple striped side detail, team with a pair of sliders to complete the look.

07. Super Stylish Weekend Workout:
I started off this blog talking about how routine helps me feel happy. During these unprecedented times there is another factor that has become the corner stones to my ‘new’ routine and that is exercise. I have always worked out and when I don’t, I do not feel great. It’s my happy drug. Whether it be walking the dog, doing Joe Wicks or practicing Yoga at home; it’s a case of whatever floats your boat to help release those “happy” endorphins. For me wearing nice workout gear is another layer to working out and ensuring I feel like my head is in the game. I would honestly say that 70% of my gym wear is from Sweaty Betty… so look good and feel great working out in these top picks.

Check out the shoppable links to all these styles below, unfortunately the ASOS leggins have sold out so I have included some other alternatives for you!

I would love to know which is your winning combination and what you will be lounging around in this week? Let me know in the comments section below!

Look Good…Feel Great and Stay Stylish,

Spring Colours To Make You Feel Good

Spring Colours To Make You Feel Good

So I started this blog a couple of weeks ago and who knew so much could change with the world in such short space of time?

I did think about not posting it and sharing my favourite loungewear, however this got me thinking about how clothes make us feel.  I’ll be honest with you whilst adjusting to life at home, I haven’t worn make up in three days and I have been wearing pretty non descriptive house clothes everyday!  I can’t say this has made me feel that good.  Well today I decided to blow dry my hair, pop on some make-up and put on some ‘happy clothes’… and I feel really great:)

Clothes evoke so many emotions and we associate different colours with different feelings.  If you think how you feel when you wear head to toe black, versus a bright colourful outfit; I could pretty much guarantee all of us would feel better in the colourful outfit.

To brighten up your day I thought we could fast forward to post isolation sunny Spring and introduce to two key shades to be seen in.

Embrace pistachio green as your go to alternative to text book pastel shades.  Think of this as your new neutral for the season ahead.  Pistachio looks great with all pastel shades.  Update your Spring style with high waisted pistachio tailored trousers, teamed with a light weight cropped pink Spring knit for a super stylish look.

My favourite new shade is mellow buttery yellow… this is my go to happy colour of the moment.  Its such a versatile shade and looks particularly great on fair haired ladies.  Team with pale blue denim and your on to a winning combo!

These two sorbet shades are a sure way to brighten up your days and add some freshness to your Spring wardrobe.

I honestly believe there is no reason why we can’t start building our Spring wardrobes right now. Many shops have amazing on line discounts and it’s healthy to have something look forward to! How amazing will it feel when this ‘carona chaos’ is over and we can actually go out and wear super stylish Spring clothes!?

I can confer that Zara and Mango both have some fantastic options for both shades!

What is your go to happy colour?

Keep safe,  keep stylish…
