Spring Colours To Make You Feel Good

Spring Colours To Make You Feel Good

So I started this blog a couple of weeks ago and who knew so much could change with the world in such short space of time?

I did think about not posting it and sharing my favourite loungewear, however this got me thinking about how clothes make us feel.  I’ll be honest with you whilst adjusting to life at home, I haven’t worn make up in three days and I have been wearing pretty non descriptive house clothes everyday!  I can’t say this has made me feel that good.  Well today I decided to blow dry my hair, pop on some make-up and put on some ‘happy clothes’… and I feel really great:)

Clothes evoke so many emotions and we associate different colours with different feelings.  If you think how you feel when you wear head to toe black, versus a bright colourful outfit; I could pretty much guarantee all of us would feel better in the colourful outfit.

To brighten up your day I thought we could fast forward to post isolation sunny Spring and introduce to two key shades to be seen in.

Embrace pistachio green as your go to alternative to text book pastel shades.  Think of this as your new neutral for the season ahead.  Pistachio looks great with all pastel shades.  Update your Spring style with high waisted pistachio tailored trousers, teamed with a light weight cropped pink Spring knit for a super stylish look.

My favourite new shade is mellow buttery yellow… this is my go to happy colour of the moment.  Its such a versatile shade and looks particularly great on fair haired ladies.  Team with pale blue denim and your on to a winning combo!

These two sorbet shades are a sure way to brighten up your days and add some freshness to your Spring wardrobe.

I honestly believe there is no reason why we can’t start building our Spring wardrobes right now. Many shops have amazing on line discounts and it’s healthy to have something look forward to! How amazing will it feel when this ‘carona chaos’ is over and we can actually go out and wear super stylish Spring clothes!?

I can confer that Zara and Mango both have some fantastic options for both shades!

What is your go to happy colour?

Keep safe,  keep stylish…

Autumnal Midi Dresses And How To Style Them…

Autumnal Midi Dresses And How To Style Them…

So we are in the midst of the quarterly struggle with what to wear, when summer days have long gone but winter hasn’t quite arrived yet.

With the suns occasional appearance over the last week or so; it has done nothing to mask the fresh chill in the air. Whilst I don’t relish in the cooler climates; Its definitely time to pack away the summer floaty florals and make space for the new season updates with muted backgrounds and splashes of bright and decorative petals. Invest in a chunky knit and knee high boots and you will be autumn wardrobe ready.

There are so many great options out there at the moment, see how i have styled a High Street look versus a designer look below…

Team this Mango dress with some light-coloured  knee high boots, cross body mock croc Zara bag, woven Mango belt and layer over a chunky knit for an effortless trans-seasonal outfit.

So whilst this designer look might not suit everyones budget, i thought it was a great way to show you how to style lighter toned prints. Here i have teamed with The Row cream leather ankle boots, Victoria Beckham cross body bag and stunning Soru waterfall earrings.  Layer over a mid-calf length fitted camel coat for a more formal look.

Shop these items on the carousel below and let me know what you think of this seasons florals in the comments…

Happy styling,

The Midi Dress Edit

The Midi Dress Edit

It may be a little dicey on the weather front (nothing unusual there) but in between the grey clouds and rain, there has been a small taste of summer.  By far the easiest most versatile option for navigating British Summer time  is the midi dress.

As an option to suit most body shapes you’ll never go wrong with a flattering mid length dress. Its super easy to layer with a cardi or a coat and from digital works of arts to vintage floral you will find a print to suit all tastes.

Its super easy to switch up your style from day to night, by simply changing your footwear and accessories.

See how I have style a couple of options below…

Trend Update- The Puffed Sleeve…

The standout detail of the season; puffed sleeves are the ultimate SS19 style statement and game changer!

From ditsy florals to pastel shades; there are so many styles to choose from… Think bohemian, whimsical floral blouses and romantic midi length dresses.

The big question – what to do with outerwear? Unless you are lucky enough to hunt out a puffed sleeve jacket; simply style by draping a blazer or cardigan over your shoulders for a super stylised look.

What To Wear Right Now!

What To Wear Right Now!

So over the last couple of weeks there has definitely been a feeling of Spring in the air, with the birds cheeping and finally now those lighter evenings.   Most shops have had their first ‘Spring drop’ of clothes and it’s my favourite time of the year to shop.

So when its not quite summer and there is still a nip in the air, it can be an awkward time to dress.  I have a couple of winning combinations that work perfectly for this time of year…

My first winning combo is:

Jeans + Long Sleeved Blouse + Heels OR Trainers

This is such a chic look to achieve.  Think straight leg jeans or MOM fit; both are slightly more stylish than skinnies and they look best cropped at the ankle.  Team with a printed blouse and a sling back heel for that perfect Spring vibe. For those April showers simply throw a beige mac over your shoulders (yes the Mac is back!).

My second winning combo is:

Midi skirt+ Chunky Knit + Heels OR Trainers

This is such an effortless day to night look by easily swapping trainers for strappy sandals.  When it comes to the strappy sandals… think Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex and The City) square toed-micro heeled- 90’s strappies!!!  (Yasssss… if only had kept all mine! ) As for the skirt…its midi all the way; either pleated or a slip style.

These combos are so versatile and easy to follow; perfect for creating an effortless Spring capsule wardrobe!

Any questions on how to rock yours or if you would like help in how to achieve this look. .. let me know,

Sally x
